Improved infrastructure for River Murray pumping station The Federal Government will provide more than $347,000 to upgrade pumping infrastructure at Woodlane on the River Murray between Mannum and Murray Bridge. The funding is in response to a request from South Australia for help following Woodlane’s loss of pumping infrastructure earlier this year. The works will enable water delivery equipment to be restored before the peak irrigation system begins. The infrastructure investment will assist the long-term viability and sustainability of the 15 irrigation operators who make up the Woodlane Trust. It will enable them to continue their contribution to the regional economy and employment. In return for the funding, a share of the water savings achieved through the infrastructure upgrade will be transferred to the Federal Government. The entitlement will be added to the portfolio of the Commonwealth Environmental Water Holder and will be used to support River Murray environmental flows. |
